Winemaker tasting - Peter Michael Winery (Trio): This flight: Au Paradis 2020, 2019,2014 All 3 vintages: extremely rich, high alcohol, full body - too much for me. Tannins on gums not tongue (BF). High ratings on WA. My ratings are not close. Ratings based on performance right now: - 2020: Deep ruby color. High acidity, M+ tannins. Aromas of black currant, cassis, no green pepper (probably because of the warm climate), jamminess. 88 - 2019: High acidity. Still rich, but less than 2020. Aromas of cassis and green pepper. Too much oak at the moment, not sure it is going to integrate satisfactory. Nevertheless the best of the 3. 89+. - 2014: M+ acidity. Very close to 2019 in all respects. 89

Oakville AVA Tasting in London: Campfire nose. Candied cherry palate. Aniseed finish. Rich but seems to hold it together. Too young to show complexity but a crowd-pleasing drink. The red dirt finish reminds me somewhat of Scarecrow. 92-93

Oakville AVA tasting (67 Pall Mall): Red fruit, sweet tobacco, liquorice and a woody edge. But it feels indistinct, middle of the road. Not a huge amount of concentration on the palate, nothing in the way of delineation or complexity, some heat on the finish. It's fine.
Addendum: I just looked up the price and had a good laugh.

A well balanced wine. Very approachable after a 2 hour decant. Cheers
