Napa 2023 - The Sequel; 8/23/2023-8/28/2023: The most closed off of all the wines, this did not give much but hints of what may be to come. Tannins are still closing this one off, but swirling resulted in puffs of red fruit and pine forest. Hold for 7+ years. No score.

I had the opportunity to try a few glasses of this vintage, while visiting the winery in May, but forgot to post my hand written notes at the time. This is perhaps the most approachable vintage of this wine at this young age, as others have noted. It has a classic nose of blueberries and red cherries, and dried herbs, followed by a rich full bodied taste of blue and black fruits, blood orange, bramble, and dark chocolate. It has great texture and depth, and the tannins are present but well integrated.
Anyone luck enough to score a three pack should seriously consider trying one sooner rather than later. This is 100% percent cabernet, aged 21 months in 70% new oak
One of the more approachable O'Shaughnessy Mt Veeder wines. Typically I want to age these but there is a real openness to the wine. A bit of pyrazines at the front.
