  • 2024 Judgement of Wimbledon

This year we lined up 16 of the best examples of Grenache we could find. Tasters were a few friends, including Neal Martin, Greg Sherwood, Alastair, DF, and more.

This ranked #3/16 for me, and #6/16 overall.

Now into a trio impossible to separate on score, but I had to force an order of preference, but could easily rank differently on a different day. Fragrant. Floral. Intense. Precise. Lots of purity here. Purple in the glass.

Not a wine I typically include in the lineup due to a combination of price and Palacios’ typically riper and higher alcohol style. However, 2021 is the lowest alcohol ever and by all accounts a lean, clean beauty. That was certainly reflected by its performance in the day. Elegant. Great balance. A superstar from the moment I opened the bottle and it developed beautifully with aeration. 75/25 Garnacha/Carinena.

    2,800 bottles.
