The palate, however, has this leanness that detracts from what might otherwise be a pretty good wine. No '04 greenies, but not the lush, fruity palate I was hoping for. Good, but the the leanness is the issue.

  Reductive, with sulfur on the nose initially, same as my note from June 2009. Once the sulfur blows off and the wine gets an hour or two of air, it really is quite nice, more evolved than last year's bottle, a bit looser, smooth and cohesive on the palate, with cherry Pinot fruit and forest floor, and some tannin still in the background, framing the smoothed out palate. Very nice.

  With Deb and Thai delivery from Lemongrass. I noticed something odd at first, which I thought was some corkiness, but then I realized it was a bit of sulfur. It blew off and the bottle was fine. A bit on the darker side of Burgundy, more black cherry than strawberry, some oak lurking in the background (not woody on the palate, more of a darker palate profile and textural softness), but not greenies. While open and approachable, it was not very deep, nor broad.
