Deep, dark reddish-purple; essentially opaque in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & cassis with overtones of earthy/dusty & dark cocoa notes, floral notes of violets, spices, herbs, anise, tobacco, olives, minerals & hints of vanilla & cedar. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, lush, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with dark cocoa, spices, espresso, earthy, minerals, herbs & a hint of vanilla/oak. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting and extended airing but definitely needs & will benefit from additional time to develop to its full potential at which time it may rate higher. An indicative blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon & 10% Petit Verdot.

six Italian reds: dark, broody, opaque and full-bodied. whiff of alcohol on the nose that then yield to ample blue and black fruit richly accented with spice, tobacco, olive, and cedar. very silky in the mouth, there is an enjoyable interplay of sweet and savoury notes to the layered fruit and spice accents. generous and concentrated with firm tannins and moderately long finish.
big and balanced, seems to be drinkable already and primed to go for another decade.
15% AbV; 50% Merlot/ 40% CS/ 10% PV; eighteen months' ageing in small barrels

Decanted for 1 hour then put back into the bottle. Young and a bit tight but open and still drinking well. Black cherry, currants, spice, and a bit of tobacco. Needs more time to come together but all the pieces are there.

Gambero Rosso Tasting (Doltone House, Sydney): Plush, smells expensive, good quality oak shows caramel, vanilla, ripe plums, violets, cream. Juicy, concentrated, savoury, quite dense, chewy tannins black fruits with a little red hued fruit underpin, again a fair lick of alcohol warmth on the finish helps carry things long. Woof
