Oregonian in style -- which may be a real insult; did improve after decanting the second half of the bottle, so maybe this is still a few years away from turning into a fully realized wine; right this bottle was very dark in color, and while somewhat lighter on the palate, didn't have a sense of place or a real varietal character; for a Grand Cru, a disappointment

Doing well, no rush; fruit is resolved, and the bottle opened over the evening; restrained, yet more masculine than feminine -- and in short, a delight

Showing much better than previous tasting - lovely length and complexity, more black fruit than red though.

Burgundy Pairs (Le Colombier, London): Strikingly vivid red, blackcurrants on the nose, and some toasty oak, tight and tannic - a wait and see wine

Served with 98 Lamarche Echezeaux. Very dark colour. Initially, classy fruit profile but then became alcoholic, extracted and disjointed.
