Initially served at room temperature, but some notable alcohol suggested we chill it gently, which helped. Powerful palate with floral notes, peach and plum. Rich and perfumed, but I craved a little more acidity.

Raised on Rhones and being an Alban Voignier fan, I figured this would likely be an excellent primary Roussanne (75%) opportunity. First reaction = WOW. Evolved with every sip over 90 minutes. Spicey with bright fruit acidity and dense mouth coating feel leads to very long finish. Mid-palate there's a flower thing happening that I must apologize for not being able to define any better. Absolutely perfect (thus the 94 scoring) for hearty seafood dinner of shellfish stew & crusted tapia on brown rice = a difficult challenge for any wine: lime, ginger, garlic, aleppo chile, roasted peppers, heirloom tomato, etc... ;-)

I was hoping it would get better with age, but I don't think it will get much better. There is some nice peach fruit, but the wine is slightly flabby. It is pleasant enough, but it is not a very captivating wine.

If this is how Roussanne tastes when handled by the Alban estates, then I will buy more. This is an excellent wine exhibiting a condensed creamy texture combined with so much honeysuckle I am amazed. Roussanne is a peculiar grape which can provide elegance and power at the same time, with sublime acidity but yet pairing very well to food. The 2006 Alban Roussanne contains all of these different components. Tonight served with steamed North Sea cod, some shrimp, melted butter and asparagus. Highly recommended.
