Spicy black cherry and raspberry on the nose. Wafts of black tea, earth and a touch of clove. Great palate intensity with a dusting of pepper, fine tannins and a long, spice touched black cherry finish. Interestingly the intensity seems to really build out on the persistent finish. Not for long term ageing but no rush.
WSET Notes:
Pale ruby.
Pronounced on the nose with black cherry, raspberry, black tea, rose, earth, smoke, clove and leather. Developing.
Pronounced and dry on the palate. Medium minus body, medium alcohol, medium acidity, low tannins, long finish.
Can drink now but has potential for ageing.

Only four months after having enjoyed the 20 vintage of Savage’s Follow the Line, the 21 vintage (93% Cinsault, 7% Syrah, 13% ABV) was released - well, yes I stocked up. Notes, I note, are clearly consistent - this is a stunning, cold-climate Cinsault, sleek, fresh-faced & revitalising. Ruby, fully translucent in the glass. Super-elegant, red-berried nose featuring cranberries, raspberries, sour red cherries, rose petals, pepper, smoke & earth. Clean, succulent palate, vibrant streaks of acid, closing bright!

Syrah-like, bacon and smoke, olives. Very well balanced, slender mouthfeel. Great wine
