  • This is clean and well-made with classic Barolo flavors of tar and roses. Rather lean in profile with a beautiful, dry, layered finish with notes of anise and tobacco. Ready now but should hold.

  • Decanted 1hr30. Wonderfully intense nose with licorice, ripe bramble, violets and a delightful savouryness. Palate has great balance - lots of fresh acidity with very fine, integrated tannin - lots of aniseed, deep black cherry and background of sous bois and old leather. Really enjoyable - needs food to balance the tannin but great balance and super drinking now. Drink now-2026.

  • Medium-fulllish nose. Very spicy and with clear black cherry aromas. Violets, black tea, cinnamon and some tertiary leather notes. Nice floweriness. Also some vanilla and typical tar. Very Barolo, not very modernistic at this stage.
Medium-fullish palate that still has lovely fruit left. Fine-grained tannins. Harsher and tougher in finish. Tell-tale tar in finish. Good concentration, some floweriness and liquorice as well. Medium+ finish.
Very good now. Can be cellared at least 5 more years.

  • Decanted 2 hours. Some gentle paling to rim, medium deep ruby red. Delightful medium intense nose with black cherries, savoury meaty notes, thyme and a little eucalyptus possibly. Big & intense on the palate with plenty of fresh acidity and integrated tannins - a little drying perhaps on the aftertaste. Really clear savoury, earthy notes with a gentle backbone of redcurrants giving the wine that freshness. I don’t think this is hitting the heights of other 2004 Barolos I’ve had, but it’s a really enjoyable wine that perhaps needs a little longer to fully develop. Very much a wine needing food. Drink now-2027.
