sappy, masonry; strong yeasty element, "waffles"; elegant, fine bubbles, tart apple but still rounded; long lingering finish (dry and minerally). At Wine Market Party in Ebisu Park Mall Blind Tasting Bar.
Heidi's Crew at St Geneive Minneapolis "quarterly". CV,KB,LI,SS,CS&DD. Tonight was outstanding & so much so, the group voted to meet monthly going fwd. StG's menu tonight screamed Burgundy so that didn't hurt. My btl flighted with Candace's placid ethereal & mesmerizing '02 Dom P2. Quite a challenging flight for a new release and yet the '12 Comte rose to occasion with its signature surreal blend of, tamed energy, complex & pristine fruit, mineral and intensity. The Dom won out with its overall undeniable sense of harmony and "how do they do it" supple classiness. Elixir for the Gods & when the stars align, mere mortals like me. Lucky to be drinking a glass of both wines tonight. Especially, the '02 P2!
Heidi's Group: Oh My! (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour next to the '02 Dom P2. This was the third time having the '12 including at Taittinger last Fall. This continues to be in that vibrant and fresh mode with plenty of electricity and cut. I fully expect this to evolve even further over the next few years, but it is inspiring now and hard to keep one's hands off when given the opportunity to experience it. Tons of fresh air, tart apple, Anjou pear, toast, tart, great freshness and cut, very bright, green apple peel, very invigorating. 95+(+)pts.

Bright yellow/gold color, abundant medium-fine bead. Aromas of apple and pear with vanilla and ginger. Palate is full and round with yellow plum, apple, spiced pear, ginger, a hint of peach, and some citrus/mineral undertones that carry into a long, vinous finish. Notes of biscuit, bread, and pineapple come with some time in the glass. Really flashy and delicious now with plenty of evidence of a long life ahead. Drink or hold.

This was excellent and the first few glasses made me question why I don't stock up on them. Nose is open and just chiseled enough with lemon cream, nougat, and bread wafting up. Palate has the zing to it but is not quite as stern as a DP. Really one of the best house champagnes I've had in a while. After revisiting later in the night, the sugar did show itself a bit more, perhaps a reminder of why I typically don't stock up on house bruts. That said, I would happily have 1-2 glasses anytime of this and this is much better value compared to the peer group. I do think it will continue to get better with time.
Nose: 93 Palate: 90
