My 2nd time trying this wine in the last month. Very good version of traditional Chianti here. I just had a glass of the Casanova Dell’Aia and this strikes me as less elegant than that wine. That said, I like this quite a bit.

To the best of my recall, this is the first time trying a wine by this producer.
And I like this quite a bit. Red fruit and a medicinal note on the nose, with good persistence on the finish. I bought a mixed case of their Chianti, so if this is representative, I will be enjoying this purchase.
According to Istine's website, this is from a young vineyard (planted in 2009) in Gaiole.

Medium-deep ruby red in color. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, plums & strawberries with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, herbs, spices, anise, minerals & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, plums & cranberries with herbs, spices & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but has the structure to continue with further development with additional aging at which time it may rate even higher.
