Dark in colour. On the nose quite expressive showing notes of red and dark fruit, spices, earth, minerality. On the palate good fruit, great acidity, very powerful and grippy tannins. Quite tight and firm towards the finish. Very long and lingering. Lots of structure, great fruit underneath, but needs more time. 92-93+
Slow ox, served blind. Clear, deep ruby. Nose: Dark cherry, red cherry, strawberry, earth, forest floor, oak, dry stems, spice, violets. Developing. Palate: High acidity, medium+ body, medium+ flavour intensity with dark and red cherry, earth, forest floor, woody spice, oak. Medium+ firm tannins, medium+ finish. Rather dark and brooding, with more wood and spice than one might expect. As befits the vintage, this probably requires a good few more years in the cellar before it starts to properly hit its stride. 92-94 pts (this wine should improve).

A (Burgundy Grand Cru) Birthday Celebration (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): Tasted blind. Very powerful, yet angular and tannic, so very 2005, but the path to harmony less clear than for many other 2005 Grand Crus.

Fantastic mature Burgundy, one bottle left. If you can find it buy it and consume it, you will be glad you did.
