Tasted blind I couldn't guess anywhere else other than Rhone. Even when it was revealed that it wasn't a Rhone, I still could not guess it could be anywhere else. Did not feel out of place when drunk beside a Cornas. So barnyardy, smelly, herbal on the nose and robust on the palate. After looking at some of the other CT notes, I think this is what it is. A very unique intepretation of Echezeaux from a great 1999 vintage no less and it left me completely befuddled.

DRC Tasting Group (Cafe Veloce): Tasted blind. Initially quite barnyard-y. Ripe red fruits come out on the body, which is dense and powerful--a bit more modern in style. Fine tannin, with a light, quick finish and some minerality (limestone).

Served blind. Still youthful and a little spicy with a bit of an abrupt end. Opens up very nicely with a bit of air. A very nice Burgundy. First wine of four great Burgundies.

definitely underpowered, although better than previous bottles. pleasant light aroma but lacking any real stuffing. certainly not going to improve
