  • VM gave this a big score, 97. I was disappointed . I thought it was good but not great

  • Can only agree with the other reviewers praise - expressive nose, almost explosive on the attack in mouth, then swiftly goes into fine and elegant tannins. Pure, silky cool climate luxury. So well made. Only thing that holds it back from a 95 score is I think it doesn't smash the finish length compared to the Que Syrah bottling that had me praying at the altar of Syrah and A-R! Oh lord do I love this grape.

  • Perfection in cool-climateSyrah varietal expression. Bright fruit with some whole bunch character, silky texture, utterly refined, tannins are rich, but subsumed in the fruit. More forward than the Que Syrah vineyard, but currently, this is the more ready, more expressive wine. The Que Syrah being more overt in its almost sour focus and intensity. This will age very very well. Currently it pick of the two wines. 96+++

  • Arnot-Roberts Spring 2023 open house: excellent example of complex cool-weather Syrah.

purplish dark ruby and medium-plus body in the glass. the nose is very expressive with floral, earthy and smoked meat whiffs permeating the plum and dark berry fruits. in the mouth it is fresh if slow on the attack, with the concentration coming in mid-palate. layers are already in evidence accented with spice, and there's a fine grain to the strong tannins.

there is a clarity to the flavours and accents that, together with the spot-on balance bodes well for the future. it should need some three years to be in a "young" drinking window, and has the stuff to go quite a ways.

12% AbV; 6 barrels produced; whole cluster pressed; neutral oak ageing.
