  • Excellent. First had it at Slanted Door with spicy food. Worked well tonight with crab salad. Light, but with a persistent mineral finish.

  • Given my dearth of experience with GruVes, I have a hard time not comparing this to a Riesling or a Sauvignon Blanc. This one in particular shows some of the breadiness of the former and the edgy vegetal character of the latter (I especially note a green pea-like essence). The nose is fairly non-descript and watery, and the palate weighs in a bit too heavily on the bitter minerals. The finish is impressively long and precise, though, and it single-handedly redeems this wine for me. I much prefer the clean bite of the Alsatians to this, but I'll be definitely revisiting Austria for some more of this type of pleasant, horizon-broadening wine.

  • great value for a gruner. most in this price range tend to be one dimensional, but this had the exotic spice element that makes this varietal one of my favorite whites.
