Clean and good, varietally correct Gruner - waxy green and yellow beans, new mown hay, all things green, herbal, floral and fresh, with that waxy, lentil underpinning. Nice purity of bright clean fruit and perfect balancing acidity. Still, nothing to set this apart. A decent Gruner, not much more.

This still has a touch of spritz in the wine, with intriguing green floral notes, lime-pineapple, and a fresh dew, and an ever so slight herbal note. Not any white pepper to speak of here, but maybe a little yellow cherry, hard pear, and green grass. Very clean, good depth, nice long finish, and very refreshing. This did not work with chicken with shiitake and new potatoes, which is too earthy for this bright, clean, early spring morning wine.

Fresh and typical Grüner Veltliner with a mineral core, black pepper, yellow apples and grapefruit. Lacking some acidity and length on the finish. - 88 points

Initially, a bit closed, but with a bit of warming this became one of the more impressive GVs I've had in quite some time. Characteristic herbal/green flavors are coupled with some honeyed richness. If there is any flaw, it may be that it lacks a bit of the vivid acidity that I expect of a Federspiel.

Wines with Terry Theise (Soul Wine, Seattle): nose: crackers and beeswax - nothing like I expected from a gruner palate: gruner palate, though. Very grapefuity, and fat to start, it became linear at the tail end of the palate. Finished with lime peel. Not bad, but didn't wow me (though the nose was interesting).
