Very rich cream and mango on nose. effective malo with underlying firm structure has led to nice softening and complexities on palate. Long and burgundian style finish.

Lemon yellow in the glass. Enticing nose of baked apple, vanilla custard, clove and Victoria sponge. Medium-bodied with intense fruits (nectarine, mandarin, papaya) with good, fresh acidity and supported by well-judged oak. Good length and very well balanced with a tasty sourness matching the ripe fruits.

Yarra Wineries visit (Coldstream, Yarra): {cork, A$65} Another powerful white. Rich fig/melon/peach nose; similarly rich palate, helped along by 100% malolactic. And there’s no acid added, either which might make you fear for its structure but no; this is build like an iron truss bridge. Full-bodied, not too oaky at all, but tight and compressed. Remarkable wine, and again, expensive…

Apple skins, pears and butter and cream on the nose. Rich cream and buttery notes, nuts, caramel, honey, pineapples. Good finish.
