I expected this 22 year old Chianti to be pretty bad, but was blown away by how good it was. '86 was a great year and because it is a Riserva, it has really held up nicely. The color was brick red around the rim, but it still had a decent depth of color within the glass. The fruit is mellowed, as expected, the tannins are gone, but it had nice acidity and a long finish. Served with homemade sauce over spaghetti and meatballs.

Not as good as the prior bottle I reviewed, a bit flat, but still enjoyable for a very old Chianti. Had a glass three days later and still ok.

From the RLT cellar and holding up better than the 1990. Quite enjoyable.
