Slowly opened up - should have decanted for at least an hour or so. It was a pop and pour kind of night. Started a bit reduced and oaky, but the beauty of this wine started to unfurl in the glass to reveal iron and smoke and black cherry and blackberry and five spice and forest floor and a floral note. What struck me most was the absolute rich and enveloping texture of this wine - so luxurious. Seems to be in a prime drinking window!

Four Bottles to Kick Off 2024 in Style (Santa Ynez, California): My WOTN. Fresh, ripe and powerful, while still maintaining balance. Sweet red fruit, white pepper and iron notes and a some jammy apricot, with a very long finish. The ample Viognier was evident.

Dégustation Côte Blonde (La Caverne de Collin): Le nez me parait un peu évolué, avec une fine pointe d'oxydation qui ne me quittera pas (les avis seront partagés à ce sujet). N'empêche, la bouche est profonde et fraîche, quoiqu'un peu évoluée aussi. La texture donnera tout de même du plaisir, la longueur est impressionnante et la finale toute en finesse. À mon avis, une bouteille imparfaite, quel dommage. Quand même 92 pts en l’état.

PNP. This was better with 30 minutes to warm and open. Very good and showing secondaries but not singing for the price point - more air may have helped but short of great. A-

Decant needed, aerated for 2-3h. With cheese.
Violett nose was pleasant, with a nice meat touch. Short dry finish, some overripe strawberry, violett, and sour cherry. Elegant and light.
Side by side with Ex-Voto 2006.
Think drink now. Like it Better at 19-20C and at 3:30h aerated. Now it is quite tasty..
