  • really nice, mature Barolo! Light bricking, as others have mentioned. Minimal decant, and surprisingly almost no sediment. Warm, inviting nose red fruit, roses, leather, earth, and spice. Quite supple and interesting on the palate, with some breadth, good fruit (but not front and center), fine, fully resolved tannins, and a medium finish. This is quite good, drink now.

  • Barely holding up. I would drink up soon.

  • A gift from a neighbor, I was not sure what to expect. A slight bricking on the edges of an otherwise pale purple sheen. On the nose, a beautiful bouquet of mushroom, cherry and bacon. On the palate, strawberry, cherry and upfront tannins. The mid palate reveals more cherries, but darker this time. The tannins are really starting to grip and the wine finishes very dry indeed. The gaminess I sensed on the nose has all but disappeared, taken over by brutish tannins. This is not a delicate wine, nor is it very fruit forward anymore. But it is good. In its own way, this wine exudes power and poise at the expense of fruit and finesse. I am going with 91 points for this $50 wine. 4 stars.

  • Transparent garnet with bricking edges. Aromas of rose petals, tobacco, cedar, cherry, eucalyptus, and graphite. Really nice. Light to medium body, high acid, long finish, and flavors of cherry, lemon, orange peel, and drying black tea. Better aromatically than on the palate, but no slouch in either case; this is a nice wine.

  • Four years since we drank our last bottle, and I am glad we waited. Wonderful signature-Barolo nose of rose petals and cigar box. Starting to get some raisin on the finish. The alcohol can still come off as a little harsh but given the raisiny finish, I am not sure how much integrating to expect. I would suggest drinking now, or within the next 1-3 years.
