  • Indecently good for £6.49. Candidate for the best pound for pound wine in the UK? If you consider Fontodi and Bucerchiale to be a weekend treat then you might be pleasantly surprised by this as a midweek option. Everything Paul Dove says below, but no longer coarse or rustic now, has smoothed out.

  • New vintage for this often coarsely rustic but always interesting and authentic Lidl staple. And it's a definite thumbs up with nice cherry fruit, pretty rose petal and violet aromatics, dusky tannins and spice and a hint of leather. Still quite rough and rustic but, this year, in a good way.
