  • Corked!!! Ugh. After waiting over two decades what a disappointment!

  • Still drinking beautifully. The aromas on this wine just explode out of the glass. Lots of nice cabernet fruit, plus fresh forest floor, leather, some brown herbs. The palate follows with similar notes, and a finish that goes one for a good 45 seconds or more. Not sure this will get better, but it is far from gone!

  • While I like Brada's story, I have to differ on the wine. This is really first class. Here are my notes, from two points in the evening. The first a bit more hesitant, with a bit of bitterness. Completely gone about three hours later. This is a wonderful wine. Thanks Guido! :-)

Lovely cabernet – I think better than the 97 R. Sweet fruit on the nose, with some nice leather, herbs, and other earth tones. A bit bitter on the outer palate, but lovely fruit, leather, cigar box in the center. A nice finish, that balances out the bitterness with the fruit. The nose is definitely ahead of the palate so far in this one. After a few hours this really came into its own. Really a beautiful wine. Nice old Bordeaux flavors. Bitterness has blown off. Nice subdued fruit. Lots of complexity. Old leather chairs, fire in the fireplace, port (or is it Armagnac?) This is really a treat.

  • Brought to Raleigh and Beth's for dinner. Beth (being from NC) had made a delicious pork roast, collard greens, homemade cornbread, apple salad and candied yams! Just the meal for an autumn afternoon on Vashon Island. My toddler and I ventured over to the pasture and fed the sheep then strolled through the garden--a beautiful site!

The wine...of yes! Well, we spashed it into a pitcher and served it an hour later with the meal. Good fruit, nice depth with intigrated oak and tannins. I would likely drink up over the next two years. I good effort--but not overly interesting.
