4th Saturday Brown Bagger (R&D’s): Light amber color. Pineapple, pear liqueur and apricot in the bouquet and on the palate. Rich and layered, with wonderful sweet fruit and balancing acidity. Long finish. (R&D)
Just a fabulous sweet wine. Incredible viscosity and texture. Gorgeous amber colour. Very, very sweet (must be pushing 200-300 mg/L RS) but manages to remain wonderfully balanced. Incredibly clean on the palate. Lovely soft tropical fruits and warming caramel. The finish is insane. Absolutely no bitterness and extremely long. Could be a little more complex, but other than that a near-perfect sweet wine (if you can handle this level of sweetness). 18 years old but still very fresh.

Deep golden color with a lovely bouquet of apricot, honey, peach, caramel and pear liqueur. Rich and layered, yet bright with plenty of supporting acidity. Pear, peach and stone fruit flavors. Long, lingering finish.

Mostly Giacosa and Conterno dinner (RPM Italian, Washington D.C.): A lot of peach and other yellow fruits, peach cobbler, dry apricot and burnt sugar. Lightly oily palate, noticeable sweetness, creme brulee, medium acidity and a long sweet burnt sugar driven finish. Pretty enjoyable.

Drank a bottle with a very close colleague at my wine cellar last night to celebrate a birthday.
Very intense and concentrated notes of apricot, honey, peaches and vanilla on the nose with juicy yellow apple fruit.
On the palate there are nuts, a hint of nougat and delicate herbs. Fresh and lively with a lemony notes on the finish to give it a nutty and satisfying aftertaste. Some honeycomb coupled with oats are also evident in the body with a touch of botrytis.
Made with 100% Scheurebe this wine also resembled fruit cake, jam with a creamy finish. Sweet but not overpowering or heavy. Bright, refined and elegant.
