- Yellow gold color with medium forming legs and aromas of asparagus and has flavours of orange blossom with a medium/full body with a medium finish - Good Viognier, golden colour, smell like canned asparagus, taste like bitter orange, a bit soapy, balanced alcohol

A very good Viognier. Flavors of peach and apricot, nice acidity and not overly sweet. Paired very well with a brunch of egg dishes, pastries, fruit and scones. Drink now.

White peach, talc. Faint burnt-butter note. Pineapple chunks. Violets, and it is herbal (rather than herby). People called it as bone dry, and saw the overall style as deliberate and good. They assumed it was Condrieu and even when I explained it wasn't they still had it in the £20s. C, the uber-Rhone-expert, correctly called as c£15 retail. I struggle to understand this restrained, cool style, and it's not quite my cup of tea. Impressive that it was all so integrated, especially when the 14.5% alc was revealed. 87-88 pts to me, 87.

Popped and poured at 12 C. Pale yellow with some green reflections, somewhat translucent. On the nose some burnt alcohol notes, honeyed flowers and wood. Slow attack, building through a nice mid-palate of wood notes and white flowers, but with some heat and alcohol that unfortunately throws the finish out of balance. There is alot of acidity here and the balance is simply not there. Still, for the price (11 francs), there is a refreshing, complex viognier that punches well above its weight. 50+4+11+14+6=85.

Lovely fresh lemon nose, a touch of mineral and butter underneath. Great structure on the palate, fat, oily, mineral, juicy melon and a nice underlying acidity that keeps the viognier in structure. To be served quite cold and a great Summer Wine. Perfect price/quality ratio. Kudos Domaine de la Janasse.

(Domaine de la Janasse Viognier Vin de Pays de la Principauté d'Orange Blanc) Light golden yellow color; smoky, poached pear, tart yellow apple nose; tangy, tart yellow apple, green apple, mineral, floral, poached pear palate; medium finish (good pairing with our smoky celeriac and truffle soup)
