Mellow cherry fruit, soft earth, hints of Mushroom. Beautifully aged Sangiovese; richer full body. Middling acid. Long, silty finish. Not eye-popping, but it sure doesn't suck either. Drink by next year.

Deep brooding nose of mushroom and umami. On the palate dark cherry integrated nicely with earthy components. Lighter in finish than I was expecting given that other profiles. Missing that final lift at the end.

The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered red and dark fruit, vegetal notes, dark chocolate, coffee, spices and soy sauce on the nose. On the palate the wine showed cherry, blackberry, black currant, coffee, cocoa powder, vanilla, soy sauce and tobacco, with fine, dry, tannin, fresh acidity and very good length of the dry and slightly bitter finish. A full-bodied, ripe, thick and oaky red in the typical Banfi style. Great concentration, but generic, without soul or personality or any sense of place.
