  • From memory - Opened this up, and gave it about 4 hours in the bottle. It was backwards w/ everything buried. Put the cork on it & put it back in the fridge for 24 hours. Opened it again & consumed it over the next 4 hours or so. At that point, it was just starting to show its stuff. As expected, that stuff was great. The CF showed itself w/ a savory herbal finish. Withholding a score since this is from memory and because it was still on the upswing.
Cerro Sur continues to be one of the most impressive Bordeaux Blends that I've had. These also seem to be some of the most long-lived wines in America.

  • Tried drinking this over 2 hours. There was some slight reduction & really locked down. I sealed it up and will try it again tonight. Still probably years away from peaking.

  • 18 months later and this wine is still climbing. Meaty nose with dried spices and a bit of dark fruit. In the mouth it's mostly dried spices notes with tobacco towards the finish. Tannins are still rock solid.

This wine can easily sit another 3-4 years before softening out.

  • Davyd's Birthday Excuse for a celebration 2016 (Kallang Way Extra Space): Poured into decater and aired for an hour before drinking over the next 2 hours.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of sweet baking spices, sweet vanilla, cinnamon, mint, eucalyptus, purple blackcurrant "Hacks" sweets, licorice. More blackcurrant and slight cedar with more air. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (14.8%!) but no heat/burn at all, silky smooth medium+ tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet baking spices, vanilla, cinnamon, mint, eucalyptus, licorice, blackberries, black cherries, blackcurrant. Slight cedar with more air. Long finish.
Outstanding quality. Drinking well now and still going strong. Drink till 2020 easily.
Predominantly Cabernet Franc with some Cabernet Sauvignon. The best Cabernet Franc dominant wine I have drank so far. And I can't believe that I can actually say that a wine with such pronounced intensity nose and palate can be elegant, but this is!
From the power couple Andy Erickson and Annie Favia who work with Screaming Eagle, and some of Napa's other brightest star wineries.

  • Ripping good wine. Too many things to name but it's not the dense variety of CA wines. Really nice balance and complexities.
