Light watery yellow. Nose shows citrus fruits and delicate vanillin but is dominated by powerful oak. Medium body with crisp, balanced acidity. Big powerful well-defined flavours on the palate; Tropical fruits, banana and pineapple. Uncomplicated, but balanced. Rich buttery popcorn on the finish.

Bright yellow and clear. Nose of citrus fruit, a dash of nutmeg, and oak. On the palate, Meyer lemon, pineapple, honey, and oak show throughout. Light-medium body, with no oily weight. There’s an almost New Zealand-esque tart citrus fruit lift. Nicely balanced, with crisp acidity and a clean finish. Pleasant.

This Stellenbosch chardonnay shows very prominent oak, enough to turn off some people. Not this critic, however. The oak doesn’t mask the fruit, which comes through and is satisfying. Yes, it is buttery as well, but the citrus varietal fruit shows up. Sharp acidity throughout and a strong finish.
