  • light amber gold in color. A soft colored gold. Sweet but not too sweet. Finish lingers for quite a while. Currently drinking by itself. With food momentarily. This was also my thought ten mins after opening. Did not decant. The acidity is super soft in texture. Not a citrus style of acidity but a mouth watering acidity. There is some slight citrus there but just slightly. This wine is drinking superbly I wish I could’ve tried in its youth to see what it has progressed to.

Day 2. The acidity shows a bit more than yesterday. Just a bit. The wine isn’t as sweet as it was yesterday. I like it better today than yesterday. I get mango on the palate. Sounds crazy but that’s what I’m gettin. Lil bit of citrus fruits. Basically I’m getting soft tropical fruits. Lil bit of banana flavor. Call me crazy but it’s like really soft flavored tropical fruits even getting some persimmon flavor. This wine begs for some spicy food. I’m drinking it once again without the accompaniment of food.

  • Deep gold. Full mature but certainly not declining or fading, this explodes from the glass with aromas of dried apple, peppermint, gingery botrytis, orange peel, fresh lemon and a hint of crushed stones. On the palate this is medium to full bodied - from sugar, not from alcohol - high acidity, a perfect sweet-sour balance, and a juicy, vibrant texture. Very tasty.

  • Nose has become a bit more honeyed with a touch of spice. Less complex than I recall from a few years ago. Fairly rich mouth. Acidity has faded a bit in the finish, but still long and enjoyable.

  • Golden brown. Apricots, baked apple.Sweetness predominates over acidity but still a reasonable balance. This is still worthwile drinking and not nearly as dark as my ‘76 d’Yquem which I must open soon.

  • On the sweet side of demi-sec. Baked apple, tropical fruits, a bit of caramel. Bright mellowed acid. This is in a great place, drinking great, mature and mellow but still full of verve and energy. Really a treat.
