  • TWC Does Kermit Lynch Wines from the South of France (Heather & Hugo's): Nose of herbs, garrigue, and currants. Sweet tannins envelop good fruit in this medium-bodied, well put together wine.

  • The 2000 release was a fabulous wine and I hoped the 2001 would match it. If it did it would be anyone's contender for a house wine, especially at $8.99 in Tulsa. On opening Friday night it was a little hot (i.e. it seemed high in alcohol and burnt the throat) and did not seem quite put together, but it did show good ripe/roasted fruit and pepper flavors (the fruit may have been a little over-ripe). By Saturday it had mellowed a little and the wine was much more evolved and complete, rather than disjointed as it had been on Friday. The aroma, especially pulled from the fridge (so it is focused and compact) was rich and inviting and in the glass, once warmed, was rich with smoky black fruits, and much more pronounced peppery flavors.
