Havana4 suggested in 2019 having missed the drinking window, but I'm not so sure. I first had this around 2005, when it did not impress at all, but found a last bottle lurking in the cellar. More than 20 years on, it had an impressively deep colour and a rich, classic claret nose of cedar and blackcurrant. The palate was less successful; fruit drying out and a hint of volatile acidity setting in, but still, not bad at all.

Not flawed, but just really missed the drinking window on this one probably by at least five or six years. It is definitely on its downhill. Tannins are almost nonexistent and the acidity is very muted as well. Still some good fruit and cigarbox taste but this one has become very unbalanced

“Bordeaux 1959 – 2014 (blind)”, flight 4, wine 1. The wine was medium to dark garnet in colour and had a lovely Bordeaux nose of red and dark fruit, cedar, tobacco, spices and smoke. On the palate the wine showed red and dark fruit, some cedar and some tobacco, with medium to medium-plus acidity and tannin and very good length. The medium- to light-bodied wine had average concentration, but was well-balanced and drank well. Very Bordeaux. In a good place.

Monday Night Blinds (Home (Noe st)): (blind) Medium plus ruby color. Savory, dark-blackberry nose with significant figgy sweet tamari development. Smells like cab - some slight well-integrated new oak. Lots of chocolate. Elevated tannins - rounded by age. Elevated acid that seems exceptionally tart, and sticks out a bit (acidified?) Cocoa-powder tannins on the finish. Alcohol is elevated, feels 14.5% No pyrazines. No brett.
Intense blackcurrant fruit.
I think this is a Cab, maybe a little Merlot, from Napa - maybe mountain fruit given the structure. Some age - 15-20 years old? Laterals: CA Merlot - would have higher acid Bordeaux- this is a bit too high in alcohol for Left bank. <edit: why not Right bank?> A lot of development on the nose. Maybe late 90's?
Final Call: Napa Cab, 1998. Actually: 2000 Labegorce Margaux. 13%. 40% new oak. Analysis: I misread the structure enormously!

Great nose. Taste is quite balanced and easy to drink. It is surprising good.
