  • Short decant. Deep ruby color. Big nose of sweet smokey tobacco, cedar, cinnamon and plum, could be a bit of barnyard funk looking to develop. Full-bodied, lush grippy tannins, oak needs a bit of time to integrate, no noticeable heat. Pleasant acidity, but a bit low for such a young wine. Assertive fresh black fruits (blackberry, plum, black currant) on the palate, notes of cigar box, dried herbs and hints of lead pencil, black and green pepper. I prefer the 2019, which I felt was much sleeker, at this point but looking forward to seeing how both vintages develop. Long, dry finish.

  • Needs more time to build definition, as it feels full, round, but kind of clumsy. Really tasty, but I can’t discern layers the way I expect. In short, delicious but hopefully some more time will realise more complexity

  • Vintage Wine - Bordeaux Tasting 11/11/23: 14% ABV. Deep ruby apperance.

Notes of ripe blackberry, cassis, black plum, lilacs, nutmeg, and pencil shavings. Could use more acidity to hold up to the ripeness of the fruit. Medium body and length of finish. Tannins are a little too forward and distracting right now.

This has good underlying stuff - just needs more time to integrate more. 91-92 point potential for me.

  • Overall: this wine is so incredibly balanced and enjoyable right now, even though it’s obviously young and should have many good years ahead of it

Appearance: dark, fairly opaque purple, coats the glass

Nose: toasty buttered brioche, some herbs and floral notes, cassis and plum, limited oak influence

Palate: medium-high, but round, tannins; medium perceived acid; medium-full body; fruit comes through first with blackberries, blueberries, and plum; fruit is ripe but not jammy or sweet; subtle spice notes come through as well as just a bit of green stemminess in the tannins (but not bitter)

Finish: medium length and very dry, almost powdery feeling, not overly acidic or mouthwatering

  • Still young. Not as sweet as past vintages--dark plum, black fruit, cassis
