Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • I own a few of these in magnum (only, no 750s) and was curious how it was progressing...
OK, I couldn't wait to open it AND I had a party with about 20 great people over, so I HAD to check it out.

Decanted for 2 hours, paid approximately $80 on release

A core of deep ruby with a light watery edge. Wonderful nose of roasted plum, sweet tobacco leaf, cassis and currant. Nearly full bodied on the palate, this displayed chewy tannins, herbs, pain grille and ripe red fruits.

After being in the decanter for about 4 hours, the wine had truly begun to open up. I recall that I savoured the last glass for about 20 minutes, lamenting its passing, but glad that I'd had the chance to enjoy and share it.

I will wait several years before opening the next magnum.

    Drink through 2014
