This pours with a light amber color. The aroma, right out of the bottle, is like a dessert wine. Lots of fruit, strong oak, a big sweet note, and perhaps a tiny hint of sour. It does not taste sweet however: this is a dry wine, no mistake. The sweet aroma may come from the oak, after this long in the bottle. There is good fruit in the flavor though, and even a little crispness on the tongue (although not much). The flavor does seem well balanced to me.
Tasted at 62–69°F.

Interesting, and just OK. Upon opening, it is clean, correct, hardly old looking. Nice expression on the nose, with advanced notes of popcorn, some butter-wood, some buried cooked apple. The attack is gentle with a very integrated wine, nice acids. Really though on the palate, it is hollow, not much there, but some good acidity with lingering taste. Not oxidized, with interesting aged notes, not bad, but just not really there either. I would not buy again, though it was attractively priced.
