Rheingau Gourmet Festival "Versteigerungsspitzen & Schatzkammerweine", Kloster Eberbach, early Mar 2013: lack of fruit aromas and flavors; the full body, soft texture and low acidity reminded at an upper-class Mosel Riesling like Van Volxem.

Tasting and dinner with old wines from Kloster Eberbach (Kloster Eberbach, Rheingau): Medium yellow colour. Nose with ripe fruit, peach, blackcurrant buds, ripe citrus, what I perceive as some botrytis notes, and a discrete petroleum note. The nose is deeper than in the 2008 and 2010. The palate is mostly dry, with an attack that is not quite dry, shows powerful concentration and powerful minerality with a "salty feeling", some fruit notes with apple, peach and citrus, and a high acidity. Rather young, 91 p.

Monthly Tasting Group LTB; Germany, Rheingau (by MM): In the bouquet weeds like the nettle fibre plant. Same on the palate. Tart citrus, also bananas. It was served quite cold and improved significantly when it became a little warmer. Certainly an excellent wine.

Medium lemon. Exuberant nose with ripe peach, quince, apricot, honey, jasmin and honeysuckle and tangy buter. Amazing complexity and the wine is just three years old. Mouth with floral and sweet nuances, honey, peach. Gives the impression of sweetness. Very long aftertaste and amazing depth of flavours. Acidity is high but perfectly balanced by the high extract. Complex, balanced, intense - fantastic Riesling!

Dinner by Sebastian Lühr * with "Versteigerungsspitzen & Schatzkammerweine" (Rheingau Gourmet & Wein Festival, Kloster Eberbach): Excellent ripe fruit, tropical hints (kumquat, mango), much more minerality than many other 2007's and does not seem to be aging prematurely, lovely balance and acidity, good length. Has developed well since I last tasted it in 2009.
