"Eyrie Day" celebration. G5; 5+8*+4.5+8.5+8.5*+4.5+4.5*=94+. Color is awesome; young, fresh looking. Good aromatics upon initial entry into glass, but they fade in a couple of minutes. Nice, balanced mouthfeel with richness that carries into the flavor and finish. Slightly darker berry profile that reflects the vintage with excellent spice and florals. Overall, lovely with many years of stable cellar life ahead, but great to drink now.

Wow, this wine is definitely not dead. Initial PnP was great out of the gate, then a little funky with air which made me doubt for about an hour, but then over the next three hours it opened up and kept improving. I have one more bottle. Not sure how long to hang on but I would say “drink soon” after a little decant time. I don’t know that I want to wait “forever” on my last bottle yet a part of me symbolically wants to as it was David Lett’s last vintage before handing the reins to Jason (not counting South Block which I believe he continued to oversee through 2007). Good wine should be enjoyed though, and I certainly will.

Had I tasted this blind I would have thought Volnay! Gorgeous, intense yet elegant and restrained. Exceptionally balanced and just a stunning wine, that will get even better with more age as it is still very very young!

My last bottle and did not show quite as well as a couple of years ago. Light ruby in color. Red cherry, earth, spice and floral notes on the nose. Soft, silky, elegant palate with great balance and a long seamless finish. It still reminds me of a nice Chambolle village.
