This vibrant, pale ruby wine presents an intriguing and complex aroma driven by a fruit-forward profile, with notes of plums, mulberries, and oak, accompanied by an ample amount of vanilla. After its 30-year slumber, the wine opens up quickly, revealing a fresh bouquet that includes subtle flint or tinderbox elements, adding an earthy, mineral character to the wine.
On the palate, the Michael Shiraz is smooth, albeit a bit shy. It fades relatively quickly, leaving behind mild savory notes intermingled with black fruits. The wine is well-balanced and offers a lovely, intricate experience reflective of its age. If you're still holding onto this vintage, now would be the time to savor its unique and developed flavors.

A great wine that has sadly seen better days, or more to the point we left it too long. This, our last bottle was a poor facsimile of previous bottles. A combination of coffee and vegetables. All good things….

Superb complex aromatics of eucalyptus and mint primarily. A bit less impressive on the palate but a most interesting Shiraz. Perhaps past its prime and needs to be drunk.

Decanted for 30 mins and it was essential. Wine opened up well and held for a further 30 min before declining - but it was great during that period. Smooth classic australian aged Shiraz - should have been drunk 5 years ago but interesting nonetheless.

Second fantastic bottle from this vintage. In its prime. Dark fruit, perfectly kntegrated tannins. A fine expression of Coonawarra shiraz.
