The 1959 Talbot is a good representation of the estate's performance in that era, even though it doesn't live up to the 1961 or 1947. Nevertheless, it's a wonderfully pretty wine, full of delicate redcurrant and raspberry, slightly nutty, eventually showing a little bit of the green peppercorn Talbot of this era so often exhibits. The fruit carries through well on the palate alongside beef blood and a note which begins coffee-like and transitions to sandalwood.

Dinner at Osteria Langhe (Chicago, IL): This is before Cordier took over, and maybe it's just me, but this definitely has some of that dirty Cordier flavour already. Some pyrazines here, but also the barnyard/bretty things. There is some black fruit, but not quite enough. The palate's pretty consistent; this indeed reminds me of my other experiences with the Cordier wines. Those aren't experiences I generally care for.

Showing beautifully tonight on new-years eve, cork crumbled but was able to take it out rather easily. Right upon opening, the room fills with caramel and old leather, prunes. tawny red in color. The mouth is smooth with a tad of acidity, carried with leather and red fruit compote,sous-bois,even though the tannins are completely precipitated there is a lovely graphite streak that lingers on a very nice finish . Very nice way to end the year and very happy she was singing tonight.

Not in a good representation of the wine due to the provenance. Medicinal.
