Deep blackish purple. Cassis, leather, black cherry nose. Bitter cherry, rich and full, lots of complexity with medium mid-palate depth and long finish. Ei "really good". In a good drinking window. Update day 2 - still a rich leathery nose. Bitter edge a bit more subdued but nicely present. Softer, finish is going a bit, but overall still really good, just not quite as good as yesterday. To me this indicates wine may have peaked.

This was really good with classic Right Bank flavors of the Cab Franc and Merlot. In fact, if I'd known how good it was I would have decanted and possibly saved it for a better accompanying meal. This wine seems to have quite a bit of bottle life left.

(Woodward Canyon Estate Red Wine Walla Walla Valley) Smalls says that he, “Envisioned this wine to be more Cabernet-based and it just didn’t turn out that way” winding up as a Cabernet Franc heavy blend. Campfire, wood smoke, rich blackberries, light herbal notes, and dark chocolate on an aromatic wine. Big, rich, and full on the palate with firm but well integrated tannins. The wine has a lot of oak on it but it works. Hangs and hangs and hangs on the finish. 42% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot. Woodward Canyon Estate Vineyard. 14.8% alcohol. 294 cases produced.
(Woodward Canyon Estate Red Walla Walla Valley) Lots of cherry, Red Vines, and jammy red fruit on the nose. Packed full of fruit and tannins on the taste. Palate is a bit compact at the moment but will spread out. Give 3-5 years. 42% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 9% Petit Verdot. 100% Estate vineyard. 14.8% alcohol. 294 cases produced.

Still plenty of structure left in this blend. It was the crowd fave with grilled steaks.

Quite a bit better than expected, fully developed and mature - wouldn't wait any much longer.

Nice mature wine, currants and berries with a leathery core.
