The really striking thing right out of the bottle was the exquisite color: a lovely delicate pale orange. This was also a warning: darker tones indicate oxidation more often than not. Thus I fear was the case here for, while off-dry it lacked the typical racy, tropical notes that a good pinot gris can deliver. I had not owned that long.

Very flowery nose, with citrus hints. On the palate, light grass but not a whole lawn, plus stone fruit, and a twist of lemon. Light bodied, with a medium length finish, this was a well-balanced, relatively acidic wine. From Alsace, it had a lot of riesling-type flavors. I'm not usually a fan of pinot gris, but I liked this off-dry style. May not appeal to folks who want the strong grass and grapefruit you find in the southern hemisphere versions.

Binny's Alsace Tasting (Binny's South Loop, Chicago): Nose reminds me of a lemon/lime mixed drink with a hint of some herbal perfumey hint. Lemon zest front & a citrusy finish that gives a hint of minerality. Nice nose of multiple components and simplicity done well from there on.

taste: straightforward tones of lemon zest and minerals. Nice and defined, but not much more
overall: a solid, but somewhat simple wine. What it does, it does it well, but there isn't a lot of depth and is more of a entry level wine with lower acidity and a nice lemon attack but little to no finish

Nice fruit with some "Alsace age" petrol like character. A good value wine but not one for keeping.
