  • Another well aged brunello! Sweet stewed plums and blackberries, earth, violet, and almost a hint of mint. Palate is well integrated, still with some tannins and elevated by mouthwatering acidity. A treat, fore sure, and great QPR (bought from Italy).

Really opening my eyes to the potential of well-made brunellos, from good vintages with enough bottle age.

  • Opened 2 hrs before pouring; I would advise to decant it or to open it at least 3 hrs before. Nose: earth, cigar box, mocha, liquorice, chocholate, sandalwood and a sweet note of fruit confiture: cherry and black wild berries, mainly. At the palate firm solid tannins on a good structure. Pretty long finish.

Tasted September 29, 2005 at an offline so brief comments only. Opened and served immediately in Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glasses. I apologize but I can’t remember who brought this wine. Ruby to garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of candied cherries, orange peel, sandlewood and a little potpourri. Flavors of cherry over an earthy frame. Tannins still pretty firm with a medium body. Drink with a little decanting or hold for another year and recheck then. I’m passing myself, personal preference.
