Condrieus and Côte-Rôties of North London (Must & Lees): Much friendlier than its flight-mate, immediately presenting a soft, ripe and mature character, as well as a savoury, meaty side. Slightly candied towards the finish, with some soft cocoa. Good wine, but I suspect slightly past peak.

Condrieu and Cote Rotie; 9/28/2023-10/28/2023 (Must and Lees, N1): Very spicy and actually a little bit volatile, takes a while to calm down. Hints of fortified wine on the nose for me, with a sweet streak down the middle along with smoke and charcoal. For my tastes the fruit has taken second place to the acid now, it is a little astringent at the finish, and I think this would have been better perhaps five years ago. The sweet spot seemed to be around the 15 year bracket this evening.

Condrieu and Cote Rotie (Must & Lees, N1): Wow. Developed, complex, rich, perfumed and resolved. A pulpy, dark fruit character, leather, tobacco, olive, beautiful spice and perfectly judged oak influence. Gorgeous texture on the palate, really alive - smooth with bracing acidity. The layers and flavours are so clearly delineated yet harmonious. It feels very complete.

W chuker that Helenshot day before. Good dinner. This wine is really good. A lot of fun at 21 yrs. fresh, fruity, balanced and length! Just plain good syrah. Cote rotie juststays fresh in my experience. I hope i have the stamina on some pure washington syrahs. Just fun to drink and luckily not wasted on friends that dont really know the wine.
