Detailed, complicated, tertiary, clinging to life with just a bit of dried cherry fruit remaining. Leathers, teas, sous bois, dirt. Incredibly light and delicate. Some nice spice in here too. Not quite decrepit but close and requires attention to pick out the remaining bits of brightness. From a case in a terrific cellar so wouldn’t wait much longer on these. Nose is 93+ palate is 90-91.

Celebrated our anniversary with wines weekend and saved this special 35 yr old wine for the day of our 35th. Sadly....unsure of early provenance the cork was soaked and showed some seepage. Got cork out in one piece thanks to "CorkPopper" but wine was slightly maderized. Quite bricked but still a bit of ruby color remained and decent bit of a raisiny fruit with some cedar tones and overall enough to still be enjoyed but obviously disappointing. Oh well what we learn with the wonderful world of wines. Was still an etheral way to celebrate our special anniversary just as we "planned" it....to coincide with the Great Solar Eclipse :-)

Light spice with background floral notes on the nose but without the depth that one expects from a Ponsot CdlR. Reasonable mouthfeel but fairly straightforward on the palate. Short finish. No glaring flaws so I expect this might have garnered a slightly higher score if not faced with the tough competition of superior vintages this evening.

Beautiful wine, very much in its drinking window. Medium body and color, it continued to evolve in the glass. Cigar, earth, boysenberry notes. Good depth. Still youthful with years to go.
