  • Another WONDERFUL 90's Souverain Winemakers Reserve...little brett funk, leather, perfectly ripe plum and cherry fruits, dusty old cellar spice

  • Hard to ask more from a twenty year old California cab. Chewy texture with tannins fully integrated. Oozing with ripe red fruit, dried plums, and slight caramel. Not a complex wine, but impeccably balanced and still very lively.

  • Super impressed. Thought this might be over the hill, but opened and decanted for an hour. Drinking this wine you enter into a new realm of wine -- older mature Cabernet with that alluring chemical/herbal bouquet. This wine is not going to get any better, but it is tasting beautiful right now. Flavors if pomegranate, peat and sandlewood. Very alluring -- could get lost in the glass. Sorry there is no more :-(

  • Wow, this wine really surprised me! I wouldn't keep it a lot longer, fruit is starting to fade. Nice cedar, smoke, and spice. There was still some fading dark plum fruit.

  • One of my all-time favorite wines...period! One of the first "must have" wines in my collection back in the mid 90's......this is the next to last bottle I have left, and it has NEVER BEEN BETTER! Dark dark plum color, rich nose of leather, plum/cherry, cedar, mocha. Throwing tons of sediment...I can see why...this wine is dense! Rich and creamy dark berry fruit(currant, plum, black cherry, boysenberry) framed by wonderful aged leather(almost bretty, in a good way), toasted vanilla oak barrel, clove spice, some dried green herbs, dusty cedar. Still sweet and loaded with character....even has some tannic bite to it, as well as some uplifting sour skin acidity. Can't believe how young and rich this wine is at age 18??? Best wine Chateau Souverain has even produced imo! Still drinking well....
