While we have visited Syncline a few times and enjoyed their wines at the source in the further reaches of the Columbia Valley (a far cry from the Napa in those dusty hills), this one came from just up the road at Binnys. Very solid wine with typical syrah character, smooth, velvety texture, dark ripe fruits, some earthy rich undertones.

Soft and round, bursting with juicy black fruit. Flavors of boysenberry, plum, and baking spice with enough tannins to pull it all together before the sweetness takes over. Long finish to this very rich wine. Can age for many more years.

1st night - PnP from cellar - first glass was nice but nothing special - muted nose and not much on the palate other than silky tannins and nice acid; most noticable was lack of oak on nose or palate. Let 2nd glass sit for awhile. What a difference. Nose of tea and blackberry. Flavors of blackberry, black currant, espresso & mineral. Medium body with nice acid and silky tannins. Medium-long finish.
2nd night - Similar nose to 1st night, but much more muted. Flavors faded.
Would give a 90 based on first night, and 84 based on 2nd night. Overall score splits the difference. Would drink this sooner rather than later.

Dark fruit, joyful acidity, long fruit after taste. Clairity and balance, well behaved- just a very nice wine.
This was the last of my ultra-great deal from a Binny's closeout; $10 a bottle, I think it was.
And its a wine that has made me a Syncline fan.

Lovely rich black raspberry with some mild chocolate; viscous and smooth with a hint of bitter coffee on the finish.
