  • I definitely didn't enjoy this as much as another bottle of the same a few months ago, but it still might've been the highlight of the lineup. Both this and the Pichler seem to have another layer in comparison to the '93s. In this case it's the texture that makes you go wow. Seems almost palpably rough - halfway between liquid and crystallized - and *busy* too.

  • Poured next to the '88 Grüner Vinotekfüllung, and initially seemed leaner, brighter, more tropical and feminine and all of the usual differences in character between riesling and grüner, but in this case the grüner seemed the more serious wine with more depth and more things going on in general. It didn't take much airtime, though, for this wine to substantially narrow the gap, gaining definition and a piercing rock-salt succulence. It remained the paler complexioned wine but eventually really seemed to be cut from the same stuff in terms of its shape and solidity.

  • Very good showing. Light and sophisticated. Hint of gruner like pepper. Nice minerality. Aged very well.
