(PODERE LA VIGNA Brunello) UPDATE: Great Producers Tasting For those of you coming to the tasting tonight, please keep in mind it will feel frigid in the warehouse. If it is 85 degrees outside and it is 55 degrees inside, it feels more like 35. Bring your sweaters and jackets! Also, please refrain from wearing any cologne, perfume or fragrances - many of the wines this evening have very delicate aromatics and we want everyone to have the best chance to capture their true essence. See you tonight... - Jon Rimmerman ******************** 2004 Brunello Dear Friends, You are about to be inundated with 2004 Brunello offers from every corner of the globe so get ready (how many 2004 Il Poggione offers can one wine collector receive? The wine is indeed lovely but I've already received over 30 offers for it this morning and I'm not even a wine consumer - well, technically not). With that said, you rely on me to uncover the finest unknown wines from every region and I believe this qualifies. Along with the other top 2004 wines we've been touting since last winter (Uccelliera, et al), I'm fairly certain this wine carries the single finest price/value/rarity of the vintage. Why? The estate is too small to incur multiple middlemen in the chain. They hardly produce any wine as it is and they are just fine going unnoticed - they don't even submit samples to most critics. The problem with that? You can't go unnoticed for very long when your wine receives 95pts. Somehow James Suckling got a hold of Podere La Vigna's 2004 Brunello and he gave it one of the highest ratings of the entire vintage (I certainly agree with his assessment). What was once a difficult wine to obtain has now become even more so: I'm not sure this wine is even available on the wholesale market at this point - our parcel was ordered last winter before the reviews came out and it's just about to land in Seattle. What I do know is that this wine is simply terrific and it has been since I first tasted it last fall. It is a gorgeous wine in every respect and one that should age for years, up to 20 or more if stored in a cold cellar. While everyone is chasing all the newly decorated Brunello wines (most in the $50-80 range), here's your chance to experience one of the toughest to find at one of the lowest prices for the quality level. If I recall, Podere La Vigna is only available in 2-3 states as it is so there's barely any stock to go around. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price with impeccable provenance: 2004 Podere La Vigna Brunello di Montalcino Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy3499
