Aged Drouhin wine dinner at Hua Ting. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru and Rona. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of fresh red cherries, mulberries, strawberries, dark red tea leaves. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), strong medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flaovur intensity, with flavours of ripe strawberry, mulberries, red cherries, sweet red tea leaves, earth, spice. Long finish. Very good quality. True Grand Cru substance. Youngish and fresh and in need of more age development.

Tasted in the cellars of Drouhin in Beaune. Pungent liquorice, red jam nose, herbs and spice too-lots going on. The wine is medium/full bodied, lots of spice, pepper, red cherry and currants and very long finish. Rather special.

From jero. Still quite tight, this showed promise with air time. Balance here is good, not great, but sufficient to reward further ageing. 91+
