A little closed at first, but opened up to be a surprisingly nice wine. Nice balance of fruit and tertiary flavors. One more bottle and not really in a rush to drink.

I wasn't expecting all that much, considering the vintage and some unimpressive 2000 grand crus I had recently tried, but this bottle was a very pleasant surprise. The wine was pale around the edges but had a dark ruby core. The nose was pleasant, although a bit restrained. On the palate, a silky feel, ripe red fruits, some minerality and earthiness, and a pretty long finish with some remaining grip. Wonderful complexity. This wine is in a very good place right now, although it may not stay in the peak zone very long. Definitely a grand cru experience.

Munskänkarna, Brussels (Brussels): Concentrated color with brick edges. Nose dominated by lovely sweet fruit. Heavy fruit with typical rose scent. Good, high acidity. Give it another 2-3 years.

Muted nose with smoke, slight fruit and stemminess. Pale colour, slightly clouded garnet. Mostly sour oak fruit that never resolved on the fore, middle and end. A slight bit of earth and meat peeked out and a hint of Clos de la Roche over time, but the oak-soured fruit and confected elements pushed it down. Overall, not a pleasant wine and a travesty of a Grand Cru.
