CRiBBS @ La T (La Trompette, London): Cloudy. The right sort of agricultural — manure and sweet silage on the farmer’s boots. Sweet fruited. Nicely mineral spine. There’s a lovely wine under it, but the sediment is a barrier for me. ****

At dinner with Mark and Raj at Troquet. Quite the wine! Initially served at cellar temperature but opened up quite a bit as time went on. Remembering last night - nose of blackberries, strawberry, baking spice, and a super long finish with great acid on the bones. Drank much younger than it is and had no obvious signs of age. Impressive

Burgundy Tasting (Restaurant Brunnenstube, Beinstein): Glass: Schott Zwiesel Burgundy / Riedel Vinum Burgundy Bottle opened before tasting. 200% Barrique, but perfectly integrated. Nose a bit muted. High tannin, quite elegant but not as complex as the Hospice de Beune. 91+

Joel's Birthday Party (The Palace, Mission, SF): Initially thought by the group to be a bit off given that it wasn't showing very much, though the red fruits came out more over time. Palate has great acidity. Overall just a bit lifeless, which is surprising for a wine of this caliber. Perhaps in a dumb phase. 84-85.

A nice wine from a controversial producer. No signs of excess oak, this was very pretty and elegant. There is certainly a producer characteristic that comes through, but not in a bad way. No reason to age this one further as it is ready to go now, and I don't think it will make old bones. Overpriced at the original release price.
