  • My 3rd bottle and still, a difficult vintage resulting in a disappointing result. Thin at best and lacking length.

  • Red fruit, dark chocolate, vanilla, with secondary notes of tobacco leaf and hint of soy. Tannins well integrated. Long finish. Drink now or hold for more secondary development.

  • Still young, and with the reserved character of the 2008 vintage, the wine offers more on the earthy, truffle and black cherry nose than on the full-bodied, tannic, structured palate. With 2 hours of air, the wine filled out, but it retained its sense of old-school, classic and reserved character. Drink from 2028-2040.

  • I slow oxed this for about an hour, had some of the bottle, and put the rest in the fridge for the following day. This is a dark red, tongue-staining wine with just a tad of sediment left in the bottle. The nose is full of promise, with wet earth, chocolate sauce, raw cocoa, and espresso. In the mouth, I get fruit cake and black cherry elements, all wrapped in a velvet throw. This is all very nice, but the middle of the palate is oddly hollow. There’s a long, 40+ second finish, with aspects of roast coffee and plum sauce. Overall, this is a solid wine that opens nicely with air and still feels young for its age. The hollow midpalate brings this down a few points and leaves a question mark in my mind – it’s really a gamble whether this is going to go away with more time or simply get worse. I’d err on the side of drinking up, but it’s a tough call. 91 points.

  • Decanted for one hour before serving. Plum fruit, cedarwood, dark fruit, chocolate and herbs on the nose. Palate has generous power with ripe and plhs fruit, yet the finish is slightly short. In fact, it offers amazing QPR. Best to give it a minimal 2 hour decant if you drink now. 91-92
